A lot of times, we look to God in prayer, or while worshipping at church. In fact, for some Christians, this is the only time they reflect upon their Creator; in these bigger, more significant moments, perhaps when you’re praying due to difficulties in your life, or you’ve finally made it to church for Sunday service. However, God is also manifested in the small, everyday moments, and there is always time for worship in this way. We’ve noted down a few ways to appreciate Creation here.
Within the natural world
Wherever you’re heading – whether it’s to the beach, or on a countryside walk, or simply through a local park – it’s good to take a little longer, and to look around you at all of the natural beauty. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the things that we need to do, that we miss out on God’s creation, and just walk by. Sometimes, this is because we’ve seen it a hundred times before. But does it ever stop being so special? If you want to appreciate God in the everyday, then look to, and protect, nature. Not only does this mean that you stop and take it all in, but it also means that you do whatever you can to protect our amazing planet.
Within the kindness of a stranger
In Matt 22:39, we see what is perhaps one of the most important lines within the Bible: ‘thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.’ We are all created in God’s image, and as such, we all have a little part of him manifested in us. Every time you experience the kindness of a stranger, you can remember that this is a beautiful part of Creation. God is manifested in others, and in the kind acts that people carry out every day. Don’t overlook this, and appreciate these little acts of kindness as something that God has made part of Creation. These small things are arguably one of the most important elements of the life of a Christian.
Within the love of the Church
Believe it or not, your church still stands there from Monday to Saturday, and many churches do their best to reflect the word of God in the meantime. This means that they bring the homeless in to feed and look after them, or they spread the message of the Gospel, like the Universal Church Kingdom of God. Sometimes, these small helping hands offered by the Church can make a huge difference to your community. Whether you appreciate this from afar, or you get involved when it comes to helping others, there are many ways to reflect upon all that the Church does, to help those who are most in need of support every day.
So, it’s important to remember that God isn’t only present in prayer, or worship. He is present in the natural world, the kindness of others, and also the kind arm of the Church, which is outstretched to all who need it. Enjoy worshipping God in the smaller, everyday ways!
