So many of us look ahead to the impending year as we mull over the past 360-some-odd days and try to encapsulate our wishes for the new year with one word.
I’m no different.
My word for 2019 is Diligence. “Constant effort to accomplish something.”
That one word has a lot of other things wrapped up within it, including goals, consistency, determination, seeing things through to fruition. Never. Ever. Giving up
To be honest, that’s the one that’s hardest for me– the not giving up. I’m learning that I have a tendency to give up– but only on myself. I don’t give up on friends, or my kids, or strangers even. Just myself.
It’s complicated, but I’m learning about how my personality type is stuck in this rut of refusing to believe that I’m capable of accomplishing things that I’m perfectly equipped to accomplish.
Now that I know it’s something imbedded in my nature, I can fight it.
I’ve selected a verse to go along with my word.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.” Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV)”
This girl has goals. Goals to become more fit physically, financially, faithfully, and to make my family stronger and more resilient.
Do you have a word for 2019? What are your goals for the new year?
Cheering for YOU!
