My phone is beeping at me– it’s time to get up. Without quite opening my eyes I bat my hand about trying to locate the offensive noise-maker. Once the cruel thing is silenced I rub my eyes, arch my back in a big, wake-up stretch, and slowly pull the cover to the side. I’m not quite awake enough to recognize the difference, but looking back I realize that I first noticed it as I lugged my feet to the floor. But I didn’t acknowledge it until I had found my way to the bathroom and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror: I had lost twenty pounds overnight!
Okay, maybe I’m the only one. But wouldn’t it be great to just BOOM! wake up skinny one morning? Let me tell you a little secret– it ain’t gonna happen.
But that’s not because it’s not possible for you to lose weight– it’s ABSOLUTELY possible for you to get healthy and lose weight, but it requires dedication and preparation. Nothing “just happens.”

Diet and exercise.
No, really. That’s all it is. Move more. Eat less.Whadya mean, that’s “not a secret”? You know all those diet pill commercials that yell “LOSE WEIGHT WITH THIS PILL!!!” and then whisper (and a healthy diet and exercise). I figured it was supposed to be a secret. Okay. So it’s not a secret.
But there is one HUGE element that is often left out of the equation:
You can WANT to lose weight. You can WANT to eat healthy and exercise. But wanting it ain’t doing it. For me, the biggest obstacle to turning desires into action is not having a plan.
